Allison Cara Tolman (born April 2 1984) is an American actor from the United States. Her nominations for Emmys and Golden Globes in the role of Molly Solverson on the FX the series, Fargo's initial season. Tolman was born in New York City. She is the mother of two older and one younger siblings. At the beginning of her life, the family of Tolman relocated to England. The family remained in England until she turned four. After five years of living in Oklahoma the family moved into Sugar Land. At the age of 10, Fort Bend Community Theatre began providing acting classes. Clements High School graduated her in the year 2000. Baylor University awarded her a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in theatre performances. Following her college graduation, she moved to Dallas in the United States, where she was among the first members of Second Thought Theatre. It was in Chicago, Illinois in 2009 she completed her studies in performance at The Second City Training Center. Tolman began her career in 2014. She was a part of the FX crime comedy Fargo's first season. The show was inspired by the 1996 Coen brothers film of the same name, Fargo starred veteran actors Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Bob Odenkirk. Tolman's performance as Minnesota cop Molly Solverson was praised by Vanity Fair, who wrote: "She calmly and confidently was the star of the show". For her role, she was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Ministry/Movie and received Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes.
